Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of the website. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search signifies acceptance. If you do not agree, discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, Virginia, or federal agency. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions, or any other purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It is a Southampton County record-resource reference, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independent private reference site. It does not store official records, retrieve them, conduct an official check, or file documents for a user.

Its role is to identify Southampton County custodians such as Sheriff's Records Management, the court clerks, Virginia State Police CARE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, while also presenting optional third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of use, you must not:

  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Use automated scraping, bots, or similar collection tools
  • Interfere with availability or another visitor's access
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person using information found here
  • Use content for an employment, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Violate any applicable federal, Virginia, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked tool must not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate. Virginia law restricts misuse of the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, and wrongful conduct toward a listed person may have civil or criminal consequences. Registry access exists for public safety and community awareness, never vigilantism or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produce no credit report, consumer report, or official background check. The website and advertising partners are not designed for decisions governed by that law. You agree not to use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Assess creditworthiness or establish an insurance rate
  • Evaluate a rental or other housing application
  • Make an employment decision
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

A legally regulated check must come from Virginia State Police or an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Virginia attorney can assess how a Southampton County charge, conviction, warrant, sealing rule, or expungement law applies to a particular case.

6. No Warranties

All content is provided "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • An outside search result will be complete or correctly matched
  • Every fact will remain accurate and current
  • Access will be uninterrupted
  • The pages will be free from defects or security weaknesses

Charges, outcomes, access status, contacts, and procedures change. Gaps can occur despite reasonable maintenance, and no content here is an official statement from a clerk, sheriff, or government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to public offices, court portals, legal resources, and outside services that we do not control. Their operators are responsible for content, availability, data handling, prices, and terms. Review those terms before proceeding.

8. Intellectual Property

Southampton County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Copying, distribution, modification, or derivative use requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for loss arising from use of the website, its information, or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, proceedings, legal fees, and related costs arising from your use or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to website use must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revised version becomes effective when posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remainder continues in force, and the affected term is limited only as much as necessary.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be sent through the Contact page.
